"Helloo?" mom answers the telephone, her voice full of sleep.
"Hi, mom. I just got your message from last night. Everything okay?" I ask, a little concerned by the tone of her voice in the message.
"Oh!," she says, suddenly wide awake. "I was just calling to tell you that I'm a movie star."

i need to remove all of the LJ knitting communities from my friends list. usually, i gloss over any and all community entries when i read LJ, mostly to save time, and mostly because, in general, community entries are a giant waste. but this morning, i was taking my time, catching up on LJ, and decided to actually read a post or two in one of the communities. as a result, i just spent the last thirty minutes looking at fabulous new yarns and salivating. but seriously. i do not have time to knit. so many other things to do. waaah!
this doesn't stop me from wanting to rescue my knitting basket from my house where it is oh-so-lonesome. the only thing(s) stopping me?
1) a newfound sense of willpower and motivation to actually get things done for a change instead of sitting aroundplaying warcraft, watching Gilmore Girls, and knitting, and
2) the fact that i still don't know how to switch from one color of yarn to another. if i did...look out, plans to do other things like painting rooms, sorting through crap, and getting my house ready to sell! move over, social interaction with live-in boyfriend and friends i haven't seen in a bajillion moons! knitting is here! and, boy, do i have a mind to beef up my portfolio of scarves...
so, i guess this is one of those times where ignorance is actually a good thing in disguise.
while at some point, i would like someone with knitting knowledge and a fair amount of patience to sit me down and learn me how to go from CA to CB, and quite possible introduce a CC, i am not sending out a distress call just yet...even though i'd like to. i have a feeling that such knowledge would a) render me useless in terms of actually getting things done around here that really need to be done, and b) break the bank, as, armed with more knitting knowledge, i would feel compelled to buy some of the fabulous new yarns i spent half an hour perusing--because how can one hone and/or showcase a knitting skill by knitting with nothing but crappy yarn all the time? no sir. more kitting knowledge = more reasons to purchase high quality yarn with which to knit wares. it would be like a level 175 tailor using only linen and coarse thread to fashion robes, bags, shirts, and capes and never touching the wool, fine thread, light leather, silk, or spider's silk to make higher-quality items such as boots, fine robes, vests, or kilts.
omg. i have to stop. this is so out of control.
