So, it's about that time again. I'm getting itchy for a concert or five. Here are some upcoming concertsshows I really wouldn't mind seeing:
Note: If I thought for a second I'd be able to stomach a multi-day, camping in the outdoors, drunk hippie mudwrestling festival, I'd go to Bonnaroo just to see ADELE....and Ben Folds, Cat Power, The Bluegrass Allstars, Iron and Wine, Rilo Kiley, Tegan & Sara, Aimee Mann, Ladytron, Jakob Dylan, Vampire Weekend, Janeane Garafolo, and Mike Birbiglia. But considering that's only about a handful of the acts lined up, I really don't think it would be worth it.
So, is there anyone else out there who might be interested in one or more of these shows, too?
- Jon Stewart: May 10@ Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center (Edit: Just purchased tickets for Mr. T and I to see the 10:00 p.m. show--yay!)
-
Dying Fetus: May 21 @ the Masquerade - Erykah Badu: May 23 @ the Fox
- Over the Rhine: May 31 @ the Variety
- Ingrid Michaelson: June 10 @ the Variety
- Vampire Weekend: June 11 @ the Variety
- Cat Power: June 15 @ the Tabernacle
- R.E.M (with Modest Mouse!): June 21 @ Lakewood Ampitheatre

Does anyone know how many gallbladders I would give to see Beth Orton play Red Rocks with David Gray and Aimee Mann on August 3rd...
that's right...all of them. EVAR.
straight from the astralwerks update:
Beth returns to play packed houses all over the US starting July 7th. Tickets are on sale for all shows NOW! She will hit some great cities including NYC, LA, Louisville, Minneapolis, LA, San Francisco, Boise, among many others. The tour wraps up on August 3rd in Denver at Red Rocks where she will share the bill with David Gray and Aimee Mann - what an amazing gig that will be! Get there if you can.
if only i could get there.

woooot! a good day is upon us! Ani's show tonight at the one and only Variety Playhouse is going to be wonderful! if not because it's Ani, and that's reason enough, i get to hang out with my PSGF! oh my! it's been too long! i need me some Kungfooey-luv. and tonight i'm gonna get some! ha. that sounds dirty. i'm glad Miss Jennifer is so kind, sharing, and understanding. and that she knows i'd never do anything to steal Miss Christina away, even if i could...but i digress.
actual tickets so as to keep the actual ticket stub from the show: check.
warning Ben that i'm going to be a lesbian for the next few days*: check.
t-shirt that says "Who's Afraid of Ani DiFranco?" in a font similar to the one on the DVD cover of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?": ...damn. i knew i should have bought that in-home silkscreen machine.
dinner plans with Miss Christina: TBD. because i ended up talking on the phone to my BF and my mom for the better part of last night, i didn't get to call my PSGF and make pre-show, stalking-the-Variety-for-Ani plans. oh noes! i'm hoping she'll read some LJ today so that we can plan our afternoon/evening of girly-loving-ness. wooohooo!
*yes, i have warned Ben that seeing Ani renders me lesbianic for a few days post-show. so he shouldn't get offended if he finds me listening to lots of chick singers at high volume, glaring at him for no reason, and/or if he senses that my legs are a might too hairy. i think he's scared, and he probably should be.

So, Sarah Harmer is coming to town...well, Decatur, anyway.
The specifics: Eddie's Attic, Saturday, March 11. Tickets are $15.
So...who is with me? Or am I the only person I know who is interested? Does anyone else even know who Sarah Harmer is? She's not my absolute, #1 fav-o-rite (see previous entry on B.O.), but these days, she's running a very close second. Very very close.

as per usual, i was listening to iPod and decided to stroll through the 'B'-section, settling on some Beth Orton, as i am accustomed to doing. curious to see if she had anything new coming out soon (and in the middle of a work-break), i head to the website to peruse...and lo! behold! a new Beth Orton album, released February 7, a mere sixteen days ago! immediately i go to Amazon.com and purchase this little bundle of joy.
and then i head back to the website to see if she's touring in the south anytime soon (because by the time i realized she was in town last time, tickets were already sold out), and lo! behold! she will be at my favorite venue, the Variety Playhouse Monday, March 13! HOLY JEEBUS!!
so, of course i bought tickets (yay for tax refunds!). two, in fact. now i just have to find a concert buddy who loves the B.O., too.
again...HOLY JEEBUS!
i'm gonna see Beth Orton. live. in person. for the first time ever. after being addicted to her music for going on ten years now. i'm so happy i could pee my pants!
p.s. i would love, love, love to have this (Pass In Time: The Definitive Collection), were it not for a) having just made a purchase or two that i really can't justify and b) my intense loathing for the 'put out a greatest hits compilation just to make more money' trend that seems to be overtaking the music industry these days. but...it's Beth. and it looks like there are a lot of remixes and b-sides that i don't have...so it may be worth it.
